You got this far reading, didn’t you? You’re smart. This post is for you. You are interested in building a better world, don’t you think? With superheroes proliferating in the media these days, whether they are on television or in movies or comics, it seems like a natural place to start when launching your personal crusade. You are lucky to have the internet, which lets you connect to people who share your vision. The main problem is that so many of them believe in different visions, so it’s hard to find one voice amongst the cacophony. There are many useful pieces of information on the net about how to build a superhero, but there is no one place where you can go to learn how one should be built. Legion of Superheroes has started this series because it believes that there are lots of people out there who can contribute important things about what it takes for a superhero to become popular. Each article will be different, giving different points of view on what makes heroes popular or not. For example, who even knows what a superhero is? The idea of a superhero is so simple, so convenient, that it seems like it has always existed. It seems like superheroes are part of the furniture of human life, like tables or chairs. But the truth is that until Superman emerged in 1938 (yes, you heard right), no one had ever seen exactly what a superhero was supposed to be like. There were mythical heroes before him (like Hercules or Siegfried) but they weren’t anything like him. Superman was the first superhero of his kind. And he wasn’t exactly like his predecessors; he didn’t act like one; he didn’t look like one; he didn’t talk like one. Superman was a unique type of being. He had super-powers! Why Supermen? Because they are different, that is why! He doesn’t have superpowers because… Well, that would really spoil the fun wouldn’t it? What would be the fun in that? Why do people have superpowers when they don’t need them for anything? Superpowers are just plain cool. They are different. And they are still fun to play around with too. So what could make someone with ordinary, boring powers think it would be fun to use his or her powers for some good? The answer lies in the mind of each individual person. Each one of us has a different imagination and different goals. If we give some people superpowers, they will probably use them as a way to achieve their goals. This does not mean that they will fail or achieve nothing; it just means that the way they direct those powers will be different from the way we wish we could do things. cfa1e77820
